A San Diego Photo Booth Day, Starting at Booth by Bryant
One operator's machine on Kettner Blvd, then three more analog booths across town
Almost everything written about Booth by Bryant is written from Los Angeles. San Diego gets a line at the bottom, if it gets one at all. This page starts in San Diego, and mostly stays there.
The San Diego booth the brand stories skip
Before writing this we read the articles that rank for Booth by Bryant San Diego, skipping the directories and wedding sites. They tell you who started the project, how a chemical booth develops a strip, and where the rooftop and nightclub machines are in West Hollywood. Then they announce the Costa Mesa opening and stop. Neither of the two we read gives the San Diego address.
It is 2310 Kettner Blvd. The booth sits inside Day to Day Collective, and our record lists it as open daily, which we read as the shop's hours rather than a promise of midnight strips. We have no price on file for this machine. Bring cash and a card and let the coin slot tell you which one it wants.
The Booth by Bryant San Diego listing has the map pin, directions and a link to the operator's own site. Use it as your starting point for the day.
Who is behind the name
Our source notes credit the photographer Bryant Eslava, and a Time Out Los Angeles piece they cite describes him as the person who made public analog booths popular from 2022 onward.
The operator's homepage at boothbybryant.com listed exactly two locations when we last checked it, Costa Mesa and San Diego. That matters because the name travels further than the machines do. One AI-written summary we checked put a Booth by Bryant in Auckland, and the homepage said nothing of the kind, so we went with the homepage. The booth at Harriet's Rooftop on Sunset Blvd still carries the name in our directory but was missing from that homepage too. If you are planning a trip around any Booth by Bryant other than Kettner Blvd or Costa Mesa, check the operator's site first.
Two listings, one machine
Search our map around Kettner Blvd and you will find two pins about forty metres apart: “Booth By Bryant - San Diego” and “Day to Day Collective”, both at 2310. One source logged the booth under the operator's name and another logged it under the shop's, and until someone stands in the shop and counts the cabinets, both stay on the map.
Costa Mesa has the same problem, and here it is more useful. “Booth by Bryant II” and “Camp Out” share 2944 Randolph Ave, and the Camp Out record is the one with the detail: $5 a strip, black and white, hours posted for every day of the week. Read that one for the price.
The rest of the day, in the order we would do it
San Diego is a driving city, and these booths are spread over a few miles rather than a few streets. The order below follows the map east from Kettner Blvd and then doubles back downtown. Swap the last two around if it is a weekday, for the reason on stop four.
Booth by Bryant, 2310 Kettner Blvd
Inside Day to Day Collective. Shoot here first, while the day is still yours, and give the strip its full few minutes in the slot before you start browsing the shop.
MOPA I, 1649 El Prado
In Balboa Park. We have one row for it and no price, so treat the MOPA I listing as the place to check before you park, and tell us what you find.
Holy Matcha, 3001 University Ave
North Park. A matcha café painted pink from floor to ceiling, with a black-and-white booth called Le Pink Booth. The room is the joke and the strip is the punchline, because none of that pink survives the chemistry. See the Le Pink Booth listing.
Studio Casually's Casual Market, 710 13th Street
Unit 310, in the East Village. A vintage market with a booth that prints custom strips. It is the only stop here with real closing times in our records (8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, 6pm on Sundays), so on a weekday go before Holy Matcha. Hours are on the Casual Market listing.
About Corvette Diner
Our Corvette Diner listing gives the address as 3946 Fifth Avenue and then drops its map pin roughly 25 miles north of it, so trust the street address, not the pin, and call ahead before you build a stop around it.
The detour we would skip
Zion Market on Mercury Street, in the Convoy District, has a photo booth with K-pop sticker layouts and filters. It is a fine thing to do with a teenager. It is also digital, and if you came for film, the drive is better spent on a second strip at Kettner Blvd. Belmont Park on Mission Blvd once had a booth too, and our listing for it is marked closed.
If you drive up to Costa Mesa
The second Booth by Bryant is around 80 miles north of Kettner Blvd as the crow flies, at 2944 Randolph Ave. That is a commitment. We would make it on a Saturday, when the Camp Out record has the doors open from 11am to 11pm, and skip it on a Monday, when they open at noon and the drive has already eaten the morning.
Both Costa Mesa listings are live: Booth by Bryant II and Camp Out. If you keep going north into Los Angeles, the Los Angeles city guide picks up from there.
Getting a good strip from a shop booth
Wind the stool until your eyes are level with the lens. A chemical booth has a fixed frame and nobody crops it later, so sitting low gets you a strip of forehead and wall.
Black and white also punishes pale clothes against a pale backdrop, and San Diego in daylight is a city of pale clothes. Wear something dark, or at least something with an edge to it, and the print will have somewhere for the eye to land. Then hold the wet strip by its edges until it dries. Our guide to preserving photo booth strips covers what happens to it over the following decades, and what to expect the first time walks through the flash and the wait.
